Post Christmas Clean Up: Ideas For All Those Extra Or Unwanted Gifts!

Now there really isn't an easy way to handle this situation. Since feelings could be hurt well that's if you say something. So lets get to it then.

So it's the day after Christmas and you start the clean process. Gift wrapping everywhere, tiny toys are laid as potential traps and Christmas decor that needs to be put up for next year. Then you notice a a group of presents that have not been unwrapped which are usually the gifts they did not like or ones they forget were here. Now my wife and i are blessed with 2 kids, our 12 year old daughter and 5 year old son. We always try to make sure they understand that not everyone will buy them gifts that we do. Not everyone is aware of your likes or dislikes so be mindful and show grace, which they both do (so proud). So what can we do with those presents? I have some ideas that could benefit you and save you some money.

RE-GIFT THEM. Our favorite way to getting rid of these gifts, just be careful when using this method. Always make sure to remember who this gift was from so you don't accidentally re-gift it to them. Now that would be an embarrassing moment, especially with my family! We tried this with our kids too but that didn't work so well, they have such good memories.

WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT. A great game of chance for the adults in your family and a good way to get rid of those gifts. You know that pair of slippers, article of clothing, that cook book, kitchen plates set or whatever thing you didn't want but got for Christmas. Just wrap it (with out who it is from) and hope you don't get that gift back!
SELL IT. Thank you eBay, Poshmark and Offerup for this. Make sure your account doesn't have your name so certain family members can't see that your selling there gift. I prefer to use eBay for this since there is a lot more exposure for your items and I sell on eBay as well. If you didn't know, its free to sign up so go check it out! Here are are some steps to this just in case. If you sign up with Poshmark, sign up with my code RICHIERICH281 to get $10 off your first order.
DONATE IT. If all else fails just donate the gifts. For example to your local thrift stores then there is Goodwill and Purple Heart. You can even donate the gifts to local charitable organizations for a good cause. Somebody could use these items instead of throwing them away.

We know that Christmas is over but now you have some idea's on what to do with these extra or unwanted gifts. So how about putting these to work and see the benefits of saving some money or making extra money for the new year. Please share with me any other ideas or methods that you might have for getting rid of these gifts.
